London Marathon 2005

© Andrew Or
On Sunday Paula Radcliffe won the Women’s race in the 25th London Marathon in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 42 seconds which is also the third fastest marathon time for a woman in any race. This photo of Paula was taken on Birdcage walk a few seconds before she won the race and she came really close to the barriers as she followed the corner of the bend. She was so close in fact she must have been no more than an arm's length from me hence the interesting angle of the shot.
In addition to the elite men and women and wheelchair races over 35,000 runners took part in the marathon watched by millions all over the world.

Woah. Intense shot. Nice job.
~I/eye agree, intense image, it really places the viewer right in the race as she passes by...~
great photos!! and such clarity.
Hey youve got pretty pictures. do you mind taking a look at mine? im Kenneth from singapore. www.photoaffair.blogspot.com
great close up
I used a Canon 20D with a 17-40mm Lens @17mm for this shot as Paula was really close. I waited until Paula was approaching and took two photos. This was the first. The second photo only captured her blurred shoulder as she whizzed by. I wonder if anyone saw me on TV when I took this photo :-)
i love your blog!
Fantastic photo!
Brilliant photograph - really up close and dead sharp - probably worth a punt with press agencies.
I have a photo blog on my site if you get a minute Merseytribe - alternative images of Liverpool
Keep up the good work, David.
