Levitation

LevitationWe all know that levitation is when objects or people are lifted into the air without support from any visible physical means giving the appearance of floating.

One way to simulate levitation in a photographic studio (I'm sure there are many ways) is to get your model to wear a nice flowing dress (to take advantage of gravitational effect) and then get her to sit on a black stool in a black studio with a black background. Make sure your model waves her arms in the air for maximum photographic effect and use creative dramatic lightning. Then use a photo editor like Photoshop to airbrush the chair away and crop for maximum effect. Hey presto your model is levitating!

Of course in this photo Alison is really levitating as there's no black stool.

Borough Market Rabbits

Borough Market RabbitsOn Friday I visited the famous Borough Market near London Bridge where the best fresh produce in the UK is available for sale to the public and nearby restaurants.

I suppose I should say really fresh produce as sometimes wild rabbits can be seen hanging from the stands. I didn't buy a wild rabbit but instead opted for ostrich pate, Mexican chilli sausages and six large free range eggs. Normally the market is held on Fridays and Saturdays though according to the sign it was open last Thursday as well. I guess these Easter bunnies are now diced and sliced and ready to be served up in a fancy restaurant.

Stop the War March

Stop the War MarchOn Saturday, 19th March 2005, over 100,000 protestors gathered for the "Stop the War" march in London marching from Hyde Park Corner to Trafalgar Square demonstrating against the recent Gulf War demanding the troops are brought home.

These photos captured a few moments from the events including an attempt to burn the American flag which was quickly stamped out (literally) by the police who did an excellent job in crowd control.

The message was "Bring the Troops home" and "No more Bush wars"

A charm invests a face

A charm invests a faceA charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld.
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.

But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.
