Levitation

We all know that levitation is when objects or people are lifted into the air without support from any visible physical means giving the appearance of floating. One way to simulate levitation in a photographic studio (I'm sure there are many ways) is to get your model to wear a nice flowing dress (to take advantage of gravitational effect) and then get her to sit on a black stool in a black studio with a black background. Make sure your model waves her arms in the air for maximum photographic effect and use creative dramatic lightning. Then use a photo editor like Photoshop to airbrush the chair away and crop for maximum effect. Hey presto your model is levitating!
Of course in this photo Alison is really levitating as there's no black stool.
